Made it out for a few hours this morning. All things considered I’d say it was a success. Got to play with some new stuff, I was casting a scandi line very well, which today it’s the first time I put real effort into it, and though I didn’t land it, I hooked a steelhead on an ‘Orange Heron.’ #steelhead#steelheadalley
No guts, no glory! #tigersharkpungo and I took a trip out on the Rocky river in search of some fresh chrome. Unfortunately I couldn't get any steelhead to come play today. I marked tons of fish by the mouth (by the ice) but not many further up river. I heard of a few being caught further up river on pink worms (I didn't have any to try) Air temp 29° water temp 33.5° #fishingislife

Understandably and for good reason the late winter SW Washington hatchery steelhead run gets overshadowed by the allure of native steelhead being present at the same time most other places this time of year. That said, it sure is nice to get a continued chance at ‘take home’ steelhead, especially if the first half of the winter season didn’t quite live up to expectations. You throw in a random spring salmon and the average day I think really becomes one you won’t soon forget! Dates available through April😉🤙 . . . . #steelhead#steelheadfishing ...
After my high water steelhead post yesterday, people have been asking about rigs for fishing big flows. Well, plunking is usually the ticket when the water is really high and pushy. The fish will be migrating right next to the bank (see yesterday’s post) and so your best bet is to find one of those travel lanes and get a plunking rig right in the middle of it. The idea here is to use enough weight to keep the rig anchored to the bottom (you don’t want it to drift). You can fish this way off the bank...or anchor ...

On one hand, when a river is extremely high and just starting to drop, it will look super intimidating...however this water condition actually creates a natural funnel for the fish and helps you eliminate about 95% of where you need to cast. Steelhead (and salmon) are going to take the path of least resistance, and in this case, that is almost always right against the bank — particularly on the insides of bends. Shoreline rocks, trees, bushes etc help to break up the current and make for easier swimming. Also, the water tends to be less silty along the bank ...
It’s that time again and we are getting very excited. Please call the shop to get on the water this Spring with @justinpribanic @capt.marioc and @chagrinriveroutfitters. #chagrinriveroutfitters#steelhead
The days of getting skunked and breaking fish off are finally done for my dad!!! He landed his first steelhead ever today followed by this beast. 20 lbs and 39” long. I wish I was there to see it all happen • 2/11/19 •
Clearwater Orange mini egg clusters... These are yet another option in anything from low and clear to "steelhead green" aka pea soup green water. This series of baits is translucent, allowing for a very subtle presentation. #steelhead#steelheading
Peach (far right), is one of the most over looked colors we offer. Many think of it as a low water color and don't use it any other time... The truth is, this color rocks (especially as shown) right after a hard rain, when the river starts turning to green (or pea soup, as the old timers used to say) Add this one to your list, it won't disappoint. #steelhead#steelheading
Had a great two days chasing Steel with a great friend. I was about to move on, but put one last cast along the far bank. Love this buck’s color and he is getting his kype on! #steelhead#steelheadalley manifesto @flymasters @movingwateroutfitters @orviscarmel @urbananglersusa
