Koyasan, mi primer encuentro cercano con el budismo; quedé fascinado. Dormir con los monjes, la ceremonia matutina y el delicioso desayuno, una linda experiencia. Recorrer el cementerio me llevó a otra dimensión. --- Koyasan was my first close encounter with Budism, fascinating. Sleeping with the monks, the morning ritual, the delicious breakfast; a wonderful experience. Walking through the cemetery took me to a different dimension. 👩🏽🦲 • • • #koyasan#japan
Just look at this amazing pool of curls! 🍜 Dafune is on her trip in Japan looking for new records for our next gigs. She had to share this delicious ramen with you. Supposed to be the spiciest ramen in Tokyo, but she can handle it. @kikanbo_japan #curlpool#triptojapan

「生かされている今の自分を精一杯に生きる。」有り難いお言葉を実感した弘法大師様の教えでした。 "I live my life now with all my energy." It was the teaching of Kobo Daishi, who is said to be a Buddhist mother who realized the wonderful words. #高野山#koyasan

🇬🇧 Just (or already?) a week that we arrived in Japan: a Tokyo meeting at the top, hundreds of kilometers traveled, a night in Buddhist temple, beautiful adventures on the road, incredible culinary discoveries and sometimes unexpected, and still so much to come. Thank you Japan ❤️ ...
Okunoin cemetery, on the Kii Peninsula. This is the grave of Sugen'in, who went by many different names over the course of her complex life. Her third marriage was to Tokugawa Hidetawa, who would become the second Tokugawa Shogun, and she was the mother of the third Shogun, Iemitsu. (1573-1626) #okunoin#koyasan
I’ve seen many beautiful cemeteries, but this is just unbeatable. We visited first time during a great night tour and were even more stunned this morning to see it early in the morning framed by the first sun rays... what a place! #viagem#traveladdict

⛰Mount Koya (高野山, Kōyasan)🌲is the center of Shingon Buddhism, an important Buddhist sect which was introduced to Japan in 805 by Kobo Daishi (also known as Kukai), one of Japan's most significant religious figures. #mountkoya#koyasan
A few pics from Okuno-In, the otherworldly 2km long cemetery on Koya-San that contains 200,000 graves, shrines, and monuments nestled among centuries-old cedar trees. I wandered off on the wrong trail and came across the first fellow in the red bib; he kinda spoke to me. I’ve heard mixed stories on the red bibs and hats, but it seems like they are intended to warm, honor, and protect the spirits of whomever the statue represents #traveljapan#japantravel

Oh, yay, the temple I’m staying at wakes you up at 6am over the intercom system for morning prayer service, which is held in a room so cold I was wearing all my layers and I could see my breath. I have momentarily forgotten why I agreed to a temple retreat. At least there was hot breakfast waiting in our room when we returned? #japan#japantravel
4/6: Henro is the Japanese term for pilgrims. But if you want to visit all the temples in the comforts of an air-conditioned van, or stay in inns/hotels, or never have to carry your luggage, or just want to arrive looking crisp in your pilgrim kimono, then #japan has that option for you too. It's called being an "instant henro," with everything prepackaged, like instant noodles. The last of the third Grand Shrines (Hayatama) is an especially easy option to do this way since the #kumanokodo trail ends after some ancient trees lining the previous shrine.
