Meerkats are extremely interesting creatures. They lead complex social lives and live in large communities, comprised of several families. They live in arid areas of Southern Africa, such as the Khalahari region of Namibia, South Africa and southwestern Botswana. They sleep in burrows at night and leave at the first rays of sun in the morning. After warming up in the sun of a few minutes, they take off on their daily hunt. A handful of colony members serve as lookouts, watching out for predators — eagles, hawks and jackals — while others forage for food: birds, lizards, insects and ...

Montebello travels the world 3/365 Khalahari Khalahari It is believed how the Kalahari Dessert came in order to existence approximately 60 thousand ago almost in the same time frame of the formation of the Africa continent. The Dragon’s Breath Cave is usually an example of this deserts water reserves and it is one of the largest documented non-sub-glacial underground lakes for the entire universe. . . . . . #universetoday#constellations
Hey, just stumbled on this pic from way back...the story runs.. "Courage doesn't have time to reconsider" : ; Strange but true.......this picture was taken in1989 on12 Portland Road SE25 4PF, yep, right next door to where I am currently located in my little gallery, @monategallery on 14 Portland Road SE25 4PF,.... Bushman, Namibia. He paused briefly while telling us story in his native tongue. Lots of clicks using the tongue. I tried to imitate them, but they're tongues are so strong, they make loud clicks. Mine were pathetic. #namibia#kungbushmen
Kung bushman. Our liaison / translator explained to us before we joined the bushmen on a hunt that the bushmen don't walk - they just never stop until they get where they're going. If you're trying to photography them, you find yourself constantly running to catch back up. This one of several shots I made attempting to show what bushmen are like on a hunt - constantly in motion. #namibia#kungbushmen
Africa 2008. Khalahari desert with the San Bushmen people - who speak the Khoisan click language. Some pretty interesting stuff went down on this night. It was one of the most fascinating jobs I've ever done - at one point I belted myself to the side of a helicopter and got some amazing shots over herds of various animals. A million crazy stories from my time with the incredible Peter Beard. , , , , #fashionphotography#peterbeard
Not only does Dooge carry Red Gum, we carry two unique and distinctive Recon patterns that were previously owned by an exotic car manufacturer. Meet Kalahari & Argento. These materials are one of a kind and will not be duplicated. #doogeveneers#wood
WHERE UNICORNS STILL ROAM Some swear that unicorns are long extinct or never lived. I must humbly disagree. Take a pilgrimage to the Kgalagadi. Sit silent as the sun starts to skirt the skies. And watch. On these stark, arid, frigid, painfully beautiful dunes, mythical creatures still breathe and stroll. #shots_of_silhouettes
