These Oryx Bulls chased and fought each other for about 2 hours. They were the younger ones from a troop of 6 Bulls - all were in a heightened and aggressive state. The day before this sighting and at a different water-hole, it was the Blue Wildebeest denying access to the Oryx for hours. As long as there was just one of them drinking the Oryx could not get a chance. On this day however, the roles were reversed. This young, lone Blue Wildebeest stood bewildered - not attempting to approach the water. Seemingly torn between escape and his ...
Stunning male Oryx on our way back to #nossobcamp in the #kgalagaditransfrontierpark in Sept 2018. Temperatures reached 45°C during the day, but these 300kg beasts can regulate their body temperature to prevent perspiration! A network of veins able to cool down blood traveling to the brain, prevents it from overheating.
It was a searingly hot day in the Kgalagadi. This lioness was lying in deep shade and panting heavily in an attempt to cool down, her eyes tightly closed to keep away the nagging flies. #kalahari#wilderness
Spotted eagle owl in a tree next to the road late in the afternoon. The camouflage was so good I was literally 5m from him and still took a few minutes to spot him. #kgalagadi#kgalagaditransfrontierpark
This tree rat uses acacia twigs and thorns to build its nest where adults and their litter stay. This one apparently appeared on command every time the ranger drove passed on the afternoon drive to just say hello. #kgalagadi#kgalagaditransfrontierpark
On a beautiful morning in the Kgalagadi. Being at the right time, right place. Placing your vehicle in the perfect position is key. Quick decisions: where will the leopard head to, what is the background, where is the sun, enough light for the needed shutter speed etc. I will show and help you on our photo safaris. #kgalagaditransfrontierpark#zazuphotosafari
Kalahari koning | Kalahari king Ons our way to Mabuasehube out of the corner of my eye I saw a movement right next to the road about 150m before the entrance gate of Mabuasehube. There were two male lions in the shade feeding on a gemsbok (oryx) they caught two days ago. There is something in the yellow eyes of a kalahari lion that is captivating. Almost as if they stare deeper into you and you don't want to look away. An absolute surprise we never expected but a memory we will cherish. These magnificent animals need to be respected ...
A heavily pregnant ground agama. The guide on the sunset drive expected her to lay her eggs the same night but we saw her the next afternoon in the same spot. Perhaps she was waiting for the best conditions. #kgalagadi#kgalagaditransfrontierpark

White backed vulture on a roost as the sun sinks low in the sky. I prefer the black and white conversion especially with the monochrome blue sky background. Swipe right for colour version - let me know what your thoughts are. #kgalagadi#kgalagaditransfrontierpark
