All the plants were moved inside the shed in anticipation of the coldest weather south Texas has seen this season. I still have a few chrysalis left and one insanely lazy queen. • • #growbutterflies#butterfly
The big hatch was released today. It’s cold sadly but everyone got full bellies and then placed on one of the many acorn trees on my in laws property to roost. 15 monarch chrysalis left and one insanely lazy queen caterpillar to go! • • #growbutterflies#butterfly
Starting to prep for spring with Tropical milkweed cutbacks that I am rerooting as well as “Giant Milkweed” that I am trying to convince to grow roots. Front row, baby pecan trees the neighborhood squirrel forgot about 🐿 😂 • • #growbutterflies#butterfly
It’s hard to tell with this picture but over HALF of the big 63 are darkening up AND of course we have a cold front coming in tonight 🙄 I also forgot to bring my camera out but we had a big beautiful male also enclose this morning. I am predicting some angry monarchs in the morning • • #growbutterflies#butterfly

My garden is a huge inspiration to my art and feeds my soul and so makes me who I am at a pretty deep level. Two years ago I planted milkweed to help save Monarch Butterflies. Last year I had three little caterpillars who made their journey in my space. This year my garden ...

This is a common blue violet; they are everywhere, so most people don’t like them and weed them out of their yards. Yes, they don’t follow the rules of staying in one spot and never moving, BUT, they have pretty flowers and foliage, make a great (free) ground cover, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, they are the host plant for the 🐛🐛🐛of fritillary butterflies! So leave some violets and feed some fritillaries. And remember, to wildlife, your yard is ...
