This cold snowy / rainy morning calls for big cups of coffee in your pajamas at home! All of these marbled pieces are 14 ounces and bigger for those who enjoy lots of coffee and tea. . . .. ... . . . #ceramics#clay
Big announcement today! I'll be collaborating with @roomsauce making 10 pieces for her design blog and instagram. She'll be giving some of them away as giveaways so make sure to follow her page so you don't miss out. Also, you should just be following her because she's got an incredible eye when it comes to home decor and design (and picking ceramics 😉) The pieces are still a secret, but they should be ready by end of Februaryish. Check out my stories to follow along! . . . . . #ceramics#pottery ...
Good morning! I was up bright and early to the studio today because I forgot to cover these last night before I left. Thankfully they were the perfect leather hard. I trimmed them and added handles and they’ll go into the bisque tomorrow morning! . . .. ... . . . #ceramics#clay
It’s Friday! New work came out of the kiln today and I was so excited to show you that I had to run next door and photograph it! You asked for big coffee & tea mugs, and here they are just in time for the #weekend! ☕️ . . .. ... . . . #ceramics
Every piece starts as a lump of clay. Ceramics is such a vast craft, there is no way a person can master all aspects of it in a lifetime. I feel like I’m just now scratching the surface of my craft and aesthetic. This ball of clay will be holding your morning coffee in just a few weeks. ☕️ . . .. ... . . . #ceramics#clay
Close up of the fermentation crock I've been working on. This one will have an open top. Already planning the next one, which I'll explore adding an air tight lid. Very excited to play around with fermentation! 🥬
This cup is one of the more versatile vessels in this last batch. It’s wide and deep, great for tea and coffee if you like to hold it from the bottom. Also great for snacks like yogurt, almonds, or a small salad. Where would this vessel fit into your day? Let me know! ⬇️ . . .. ... . . . #ceramics#clay
Recently I've been in love with coil building. There is so much control of height and shape that comes with this method. In this piece in definitely exploring texture, which has been on my mind quite a bit lately. After this photo was taken I added some colored slip to the exterior. Now off to dry.
I had such an amazing time at the raku workshop last weekend that I decided to sign up for a weekend long raku retreat in Phoenicia, NY in April organized by the folks at @chopletceramicstudio ! This photo is from the workshop last weekend @ceramicsupply . . . . . . #ceramics#pottery
If you have followed my page, you’ll know I go to @the_mixtape_club all the time. They’re right next to the studio, let me take lots of photos of my work, and the atmosphere is unbeatable. Whether you love coffee, records, or both, you must stop in! (I threw this cup in college, it’s made of porcelain I made from scratch and then fired in a wood kiln. Haven’t been able to part with this piece in all my travels) . . . . . . #ceramics#clay ...
Been two whole days without heat in my building. So cold that my cat doesn't want to leave my lap, which I guess is kinda nice for me. 😻Besides missing the heat, everything has been great including this massive vase thing that I've been working on. Trying to decide if I should carve into it or just leave it plain. Thoughts?
This piece was one of 2 pieces that did not survive last weekends raku firing. I might epoxy this one back together. Swipe right to see what it would look like. Should I try and save it? . . . . . #ceramics#pottery
It’s #mugshotmonday! Stay tuned to my Instagram stories because my Etsy Update is happening today! I made lots of work and some of it has already sold during previews. I’m excited for you to get your hands on new big mugs that hold serious amounts of coffee and tea. . . . . . . #ceramics
Being so hands on in the raku firing process is so much fun! After the pieces are fired in the kiln for 15 minutes, they're transferred to a bucket filled with newspaper. The paper catches fire and gets smoking and then the bucket is closed. The piece sits in the smoke filled bucket for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, its removed and carried to the water bucket where we cool it off. . . . . . #ceramics#pottery ...
Wedging is the process in which air bubbles are eliminated from clay. Not only is it important from a materials perspective, but wedging is the time I take to center myself, become focused on the material, and get my body ready for a throwing session. Wedging is one of my favorite steps of the #process. . . .. ... . . . #ceramics
This #studiosaturday is special because @artshackbrooklyn is having a FREE Community Day! Come build with us and fire a piece for free from 10-12:30. Plus, we have a FULL workshop from 1-3. If you’re in Bed-Stuy, come say hi and sqish around in some clay! . .. ... . . . #ceramics
Hello! I'm Nicole👋 and I own mostrecklessly, a ceramics studio located in Brooklyn, NY. From the first day I touched clay I was in love 🥰. The wonderful thing about this medium is the wide variety of things you can make and learn. There never seems to be an end. I'm predominantly a handbuilder but also enjoy slipcasting. Currently, I've been working on dinnerware pieces for two of my favorite restaurants. At MR studio we've hosted many students during our workshops, 8 week sessions, private lessons and most recently we switched over to a membership space. When ...
Trying to focus on getting back into the swing of things before I start making new work. A fun thing to do is cut your practice stuff in half before you throw it out to see if your walls are even – pretty shocked to see that mine are not bad at all!

They’re part of a pinch pot collection where you purchase blindly and are surprised when they arrive by the style and color! $5 dollars each! Very excited to be kicking off the new year with a workshop on BUILDING BIG with @haydenricher. We’re thrilled to welcome Hayden to our extended Wedge community. Our members are ready to take on new challenges and to scale-up this month - January 26th can’t come soon enough 🎉 (This workshop is for Wedge members only)
One part of making pottery I love is when I come across the need for a certain vessel, I can make it myself. When my partner and I drink coffee in the morning on weekends (usually from bed) I like to carry the half & half in a separate container. This chubby carafe will loop perfectly around the finger of the hand that holds the French press while the other hand holds the mugs. With a small opening to avoid spills and a two finger handle, this lil piece is perfect. Hoping for glaze breaks along the carved detail! 🤞🏼 ...
Coffee is a critical aspect of my practice. I love drinking it, making it, and sharing it with other people, especially in handmade ceramics. If you come by @zabkacoffee in #bedstuy, you can share a cup of coffee with me. I love when customers tell me about their new jobs, show me their just-born babies after coming in pregnant for months, or want to talk about my work. Some of us have a unique relationship with our baristas and it’s one of my favorite parts of sharing coffee with others. . .. ... . . . #ceramics ...
Currently my favorite way to apply our white glaze is with a big brush. The end results in a beautiful layering of brush strokes creating brighter areas of white. This application method really shows off the handmade nature of these plates.

Happy new year everyone!! Just wanted to give you all a huge shout out for your support this year, it truly has been so important and I couldn’t do it without you!! Here’s a rare snap of me irl, not covered in clay and looking like a ragamuffin for once. (That’s me on the left, for those who don’t know!) Big love!! 💖💖💖
Happy New Year! I have so many goals this year. New shapes, more sets, better photos, website stuff! Seeing my platter and egg shell bowl beautifully displayed at my friends apartment last night is the ultimate reward for all my hard work and late nights. It makes me so happy to know my pieces have new amazing homes with equally amazing people! Last night we rang in the new year by saging each other to cleanse ourselves for new beginnings. We also ordered Chinese food and painted and danced in our pajamas. #ceramics#pottery ...
Trimming the bigger forms I threw so I can let them dry before the next bisque! These will be available in my Etsy January update. Do you folks like seeing these process shots? Let me know below! ⬇️⬇️ . . . . . . . #ceramics#clay
I’m spending #studiosunday finishing some pieces, enjoying the company of my studio mates, and stepping out of my comfort zone making bigger forms using more clay. Swipe to see some of the stuff I’ve been working on. You can expect to see these in January’s Etsy update! How are you finishing out 2018? Let me know! ⬇️⬇️ . . . . . #ceramics
When I teach, I tell students to not stress about the end result because it’s about the process and the journey when it comes to making art, especially pottery. It’s easy to forget the people we see online have spent countless hours honing their practice and working hard behind the scenes to present us with finished work. It’s hard and not always glamorous. . .. ... Sometimes the process is messy and I end up reclaiming more work than I keep. Sometimes I’m practicing with some recycled clay and don’t even bother cleaning the wheel between the different clay bodies. ...
In 2019, you can expect one big Etsy shop update a month from me. Aiming to add 30-40 pieces each time! I’ve been trying out new materials, glazes, & techniques so I’m ready to share my results with you! (I’m loving neutral tones on speckled clay!) . . . These big updates are one of my resolutions this year! Along with really penny pinching to make additional student loan payments and leading a healthier lifestyle. What can we expect from YOU in 2019! Tell me! ⬇️⬇️ . . . #ceramics#clay ...
