My days where pretty simple and special during my stay in Haines, Alaska. After getting the fire started I had breakfast and some coffee. Then I drove some 25 miles along the Chilkat river and spend the days watching bald eagles fly around me.
Practice makes perfect! 🐺 . The dog that went the right way is slowly losing his vision due to PRA 😢 . When I see him do well & navigate in unfamiliar places I’m hopeful that he will still be able to work for a few more years 🙏🏼 . Such a beautiful dog, loves to work & is fast as all hell ⚡️⚡️⚡️ . For now he’s still got it! ♥️ . . . . #bordercollie#bordercollies
Another shorebird I photographed last weekend: a Dunlin (Calidris alpina)! 🐥 You can immediately notice that these birds are chunkier than other shorebirds ( #thicc) and are pretty drab in colouration when in their winter plumage. The origin of the name "Dunlin" actually refers to this drab winter plumage, meaning "little dun-coloured bird" or "grey-brown bird"... swipe to see a frantic video of this little guy probing around in the mud for inverts 🦐! . • • • • • #dunlin ...

Puffins are one of the few bird species that are able to carry several small fish crosswise in their bill, thanks to a unique hinge in the beak. This allows the top and bottom of the beak to touch each other at different angles instead of just being able to close straight up. The puffin's tongue can push the fish against the palate of the bird while opening its beak to catch more fish. 🇬🇧Atlantic puffin 🇳🇱Papegaaiduiker . . . . #scotland#wildlife ...
The fox sometimes saves food behind loose tree bark or in a dimple, which is covered with earth. Even months later, the fox can find the hidden prey through a combination of smell and memory. 🇬🇧Red fox🦊. 🇳🇱Vos🦊 . . . . #fox#naturephotography
As soon as this juvenile is fully grown, he can exert a pressure of 50 kilograms with his beak. A cherry kernel is therefore easily cracked. 🇬🇧Hawfinch 🇳🇱Appelvink . . . . #wildlife#wildlifephotography
. On this photo you can clearly see the nictitating membrane. The membrane is a third eyelid that is translucent. It is used as an extra level of safety for the eye. It allows the puffin to still see, while affording its eyes an additional amount of protection during his diving for fish. 🇬🇧Atlantic puffin 🇳🇱Papegaaiduiker . . . . #wildlife#wildlifephotography
