Yesterday my poor little cat died. She was a constant presence for 13 years and then she left as suddenly as she had arrived all those years ago. I needed this sunrise, I was snapping the picture through tears. We will miss you girl. 😥 ———————————————————————- #mtb#mtbxco

We all have bad days, but the beauty of being a cyclist is the knowledge that you can escape for a while. And when you are on your bike nothing else matters, the world and it’s issues seem to disappear with every pedal stroke. ———————————————————————- #mtb#mtbxco

When I met @jordanwisdom8 he was a wiry teenager with a old mountain bike. I remember teaching him to ride gap jumps and coaching him through rock gardens. He eventually got his provincial colors for mtb and now he rides better than I could ever dream to. Been so awesome to share my passion with you bud. Can’t wait to see you set the trails in Cape Town alight. Great catching up with you yesterday. ———————————————————————- #mtb#mtbxco ...

A good friend of mine once told me that it’s difficult to have perspective and a vision for your life if you can’t see out to the horizon. If you’re stuck in an office all day or at work, you get boxed in and you lose yourself.. and sometimes you lose your purpose. Half the reason I ride is to get out and find that again.. go find your horizon. 🤘👊 ———————————————————————- #mtb#mtbxco ...
Throwback to racing Aloe...I’m starting to think about XCO season again. I really love the adrenaline that comes with racing laps. And the support of people around the course is awesome. So different to the lonely miles of a marathon race. Credit: @quickpixphoto ———————————————————————- #mtb#mtbxco

One of the common things I see Mountain bikers doing is braking with 2 fingers. Modern brakes are designed to be able to stop the bike with one finger. In fact you can produce enough force to throw yourself clean over the bars with a single finger. Think about it… Braking with 2 fingers leaves your 2 weakest fingers to keep you on the bike… Would you hold a cup with those 2 fingers? A tennis racquet? Would you hold onto a ledge with them? NO!!! - So why would you ride a mountain bike through rocks, roots, jumps and ...

This is my 200th post and is a throwback to a few years ago. I had never ridden a proper gap jump before and I decided to pluck up the courage on a group ride. So we all stopped to film it! Everyone was standing around hoping they wouldn’t have to take me to hospital. 🤣 ———————————————————————- #mtb#mtbxco

‘There ain't no load that I can't hold, a road so rough this I know: I'll be there when the light comes in to tell them we're survivors, ...cos Life is a highway and I’m gonna ride it’ (rascal flats) ———————————————————————- #mtb#mtbxco
Freeze frame of a video I took just before diving out of the way!! I’m so privileged to have worked with and raced alongside many of the young riders in this group. The future of mountain biking in SA is bright. With guys like @alanhatherly inspiring the next generation from the World Cup stage to youngsters in this pic, watch this space world. 🇿🇦 is here to stay. 👊 ———————————————————————- #mtb#mtbxco
Yesterday afternoon we went down to cascades for some short course racing with @absolutemotionza. This is a very cool format of xco with 20 minutes of flat out laps, a bit like an off-road crit. Keep an eye out for the next one on Facebook next month and come and join us! Well done to @hilton_college_cycling for some great results. ———————————————————————- #mtb#mtbxco

This reminded me of Jurassic park. I remember watching it as a child. It was the most incredible movie. Who could forget that moment when the water in the glass starts to ripple.... ———————————————————————- #mtb#mtbxco

Last night I mentioned we were going to do an everesting test...well it didn’t quite go according to plan. We had a lot of fine drizzle last that left the road condition muddy. After a quick chat we set off to see how many we could climb in 3h. Because it was so slippery on the descent we only managed 6. But at least we’ve now done a wet test. We still need to do a dry run and a night run/ equipment check. Thanks @bradthompson2 and @grahampearson125 for joining the madness! #everesting ———————————————————————- #mtb ...

...so tomorrow it begins. We will start our first Everesting trial of the d494 with about 3000m of hill repeats.(10 or so in 3h). The plan is to Everest it in December with about 35 repeats. If anyone wants to come ride some, we are on the d494 from 5:30-8:30am tomorrow. Stoked. #everesting ———————————————————————- #mtb
