Learning to accept that you will forever be a student of Light, in constant study of its many moods, patterns & shapes, is maybe the most important step in becoming a professional photographer. . Shot with a 24-70 F2.8 on @sonyalpha A7RIII & Circular Polarizing filter @polarpro
Panorama by @babaktafreshi The World at Night photography Swipe left to see this entire nightscape of Colorado’s Great Sand Dunes National Park, photographed two weeks ago. I was waiting for this surreal moment when the last rays of the setting moon was shining on the dunes. The sky became darker and filled with stars as the moon was approaching the horizon. This high elevation desert, surrounded by the Rocky Mountains, has the tallest sand dunes in North America. Over tens of thousands of years since lakes in the valley receded, exposed sand was blown by mountain winds ...
First things first, Merry Christmas guys! I hope you guys aren’t super annoyed of me reminiscing on this place yet cause I just dropped my first vlog in months🤙🏻 link in bio let me know what you guys think!
But if you close your eyes, does it almost feel like nothing changed at all... 🥀 • • • • #colorado#sonya6000 (peep those grains of sand on the camera lens, they were in my entire camera bc it was like a sandstorm that day nbd)

Back to one of the biggest workouts of my life - getting from the bottom of these gigantic sand dunes right to the top 😂⛰ (About 250m elevation on sand, and yes that’s tiny me down the bottom, already half way🤣)
The Great Sand Dunes. An astonishing landscape that changes with every gust of wind, and the light changes every second, making every photo different. Look at these layers! Have you witnessed such a magic play with the light?

Looking back at 2018-it’s been one of the best years of my life. We traveled to Chilé and lived in Reno, Nevada for a few months, swam in Lake Tahoe, drove thousands of miles to spontaneous locations, I put more work into my photography and was able to grow and improve dramatically, Jake helped me achieve a life long dream of starting a swimsuit company (@geodeswimwear), I graduated from college, and we spent lots of time with friends and family. Honestly can’t wait to see what 2019 holds 💕
Ed + Sheena, our dear friends, among the Great Sand Dunes, Colorado. An elopement we will never forget ✨they are also fellow photographers, check out their beautiful work- @sheenashahangianphoto @thescheffs #greatsanddunes#elopement
I love capturing landscapes with a human element. I feel like a lot of times we look at landscape photos and picture ourselves there, so to me adding a person somewhere in the photo deepens that mental connection. Not only is it great size reference showing how big the landscape is, but it also creates emotion and links us to the photo in a certain way.
Last year was a year filled with abundant blessings in my life. My oldest son @natehamill got married to the beautiful @sarah__hamill__ We spent time in Colorado, Alaska, Big Bear, Red Rock, San Diego and knocked around Tahoe and my hometown of Truckee. Going forward I’m resolved to slow a bit and treasure the time spent with family and friends. #greatsanddunesnationalpark#hikingculture
