The Gangtey Valley, also called Probjikha Valley is one of the most beautiful destinations in Bhutan. It is the winter home to a group of globally endangered black necked cranes that arrive every year from the Tibetan Plateau. We thoroughly enjoyed Gangtey nature trail.🌻 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #lycawanders#travelgirl
We’ve travelled East to the Phobjikha Valley of Western Bhutan. Each day here is a heady mix of colour, culture and good hearted humans. Here’s the full team with our guide Sangay Wangchuk. #discoverbhutan
Nakasalubong namin ang family ng cows na to habang nagte-trekking. Talagang hinihintay nila isa’t isa making sure bawat member nakasunod sa likod nila. Nakakatuwa. ❤️ @bhutanpeacefultour #yengtravels#bhutan
Happy 111th National Day, #bhutan! This tiny Himalayan kingdom was never colonized so they have no Independence Day, and instead celebrate the onset of the monarchy — the crowning of the 1st of 5 kings of the Wangchuck Dynasty on Dec 17, 1907. The 1st king was elected to an absolute hereditary monarchy by a unanimous vote among representatives of the people, if you can believe it. My guides from @bridgetobhutan credited the monarchy with bringing peace to this former theocracy made up of feudal states. The 4th king created the concept of Gross National Happiness (as opposed to GDP) ...
Spotted two black necked cranes soaring high across the sky during my hike through the Phobjikha valley. . At that instant moment my brain started thinking as to how important relationships actually are. The struggle over choosing priorities always remains. Still in a dilemma whether an individual needs to always choose something over the other is a big question mark & will probably remain so for quite some time to come. Maybe it's even possible to be with someone who can be your positive anchor, one that helps you grow & vica- versa. Man is a social animal after ...
while we can't pause time, it's so wonderful to revisit such moments frozen in time! can't believe it's been 11 years today, since one of the most amazing adventures (and the most memorable trek) in #bhutan, and having my first snow fight 😁⛄❄️ this is one of those moments I'd love to rewind to, if time travel becomes possible! #travel
Cheers to all the strong women I’ve been able to learn from! Grateful to be living in a country where I am able to meet women like Aum Sonam who constantly redefine what being feminine mean - without even batting an eye. Happy International Women’s Day to all my fellow badass ladies, keep doing you and keep breaking down walls!
Bleary-eyed and yawning, I slowly wound my way up the steep, muddy path in the early dawn light. The sounds of birdsong all around me slowly roused me from my sleepy state as my eyes focused on flashes of yellow, red, and blue flew through the trees. We walked along trails that have been used for hundreds of years by migratory communities trekking from their summer home to their winter home. Incredibly thankful to UWICE for the opportunity to spend a week nerding out about the birds and butterflies of Bhutan in a seriously magical place.
