Using my telephoto lens, I decided to single out the areas of light and fog in an otherwise black-and-white, winter scenery." | #sonyalpha a7 III | 70-200 f/2.8 GM | #bealpha

Photo @Andy_Best // Spending time studying angles, light, and feeling before the storm always pays off. Now the tricky part is finding the time to do all of the above. Those ingredients are my favorite when out on any project. For more outdoor art #followme @andy_best
Yosemite National Park in California is one of @jeff.n.brenner’s favorite places to explore and photograph. Each season provides entirely new experiences throughout the park. As winter rolls in, it transforms Yosemite Valley into a winter wonderland. The deer are out grazing along footpaths, and coyotes can often be seen hunting in the snow-covered meadows. A trip during the winter months (or any month for that matter) will never leave you disappointed. — 📌 #yosemite#california — 📷 @jeff.n.brenner —

Yosemite Fire Fall; a ritual in which burning hot embers were dropped from Glacier Point, 1958. For those thinking this is the event where the sun hits the falls at certain times during the year to make it appear like fire, not the same. This was done during night time without any sunlight. I’m posting this again as an entry to @southwestair Storyteller Competition. But what’s a good post without a good story? I took this at sunset during the first and last time that I visited Yosemite. It was a little hazy and the sun was reflecting off of that haze almost perfectly. The initial goal of the shot was to get an image of Taft Point. That’s it. But as I was lining up for the it, this person stepped out into the lookout. I snapped anyways, and what I got was probably my favorite shot from that entire weekend. ...

📷 @yosemitenps
"It may look like a ribbon of cascading lava, but a so-called "Firefall" in Yosemite National Park is actually a regular waterfall illuminated by the bright light of the setting sun.⠀ ⠀ Almost every mid-to late-February, Yosemite's Horsetail Fall — a seasonal waterfall that flows when the snowpack melts in the winter and early spring — glows a bright and fiery orange.⠀ ⠀ However, the Firefall happens only under the right conditions. For starters, the sky needs to be clear. In addition, the sun needs to set at the right angle in the western sky; this creates the illusion that ...
“Yosemite during a recent snowfall. Warmer temperatures resulted in some very large and fluffy snowflakes that you can actually see streaming over the dark water if you zoom in. I took this using a longer exposure to hide some of the snow falling over most of the photo because I thought it might be distracting.” Photo/caption: @kenanchan
