Question: Will painted furniture go out of style? Answer: While I’m no prophet of home décor trends or anything, let me refer to the photo attached. It’s a piece of furniture from mid 19th century that was painted and is for sale on ebay.uk website. Particularly in France, though I cannot speak for other countries, its very common to keep the furniture you buy and when it gets to look a bit rough, a coat of paint will be applied to restore it. Getting rid of furniture isn’t common from what I understand. Pieces are simply refreshed. ...

People have asked me where i work on these beautiful projects. ;) i always laugh because it's so true that "truth is stranger than fiction". When the weather allows and the process can tolerate outdoors, that's my very first choice every time. However, life in a rainforest...ahem. yeah, you get it. Not ideal most days. SO .... it's my living room! yeah....really. It's a nice temperature to work in and the products dry well and quickly. Drop cloths are my life...i have different sizes and shapes and use them all the time to protect my HARDWOOD floors. hehe ...
Beautiful!! Simplicity is one of the best gifts of nature. Everything does its work in season. In the fall it’s all about pouring the last and best out before a long winters nap. Trees put on colourful displays as do plants. And this mantel showcases it beautifully and simply!! #apples#fall @thismamasdance

Fall. I know lots of people think of decorating...and I like that too. But look around as you drive. Notice the free colour show in the trees and gardens!! I guess the leaves could have fallen green but instead we get bright reds and yellows and oranges. 😮 #savortheseason#savour

Q: When I’m going to paint something, I’ve heard I don’t need to do preparation. Is that right? A: Before I answer that, I’m going on a brief philosophical rant... I know you're probably saying, "Oh sure, Denise, you feel confident with colour, but what about the rest of us?!" Well, if truth be told...while i love colour, you might not realize if you haven't seen my home...it's in soft "grey/beige" tones with wood floors. It's a soothing, restful beach cottage style and i love it. BUT!!!! There's nothing i like better than a *POP* of colour!!! Whether that's a bunch of cushions, a great throw or some zippy, colourful artwork! Let me give you an easy question that might get you started.....what colour, when you see ...

It's our first **Tips and Techniques Monday** How did I get that POP of blue on that secretary desk?!!! Here's the scoop: Fusion Mineral paint is a Canadian paint company that specializes in furniture paint. Great stuff. I've used it often. This time i wanted to mix colours for the specific "Caribbean" blue that i'd been dreaming of. (After all, just because we need to sit at a desk, doesn't mean it needs to be stodgy or dull!!!!) By mixing the dark and delicious Renfrew Blue with the stalwart navy of Liberty blue (equal parts) resulted in the exact shade ...
